grilled fish

রান্নার আগে মাছ, মাংস কাটা বা পরিস্কার করা  আমার সবচেয়ে অপ্রিয় কাজ। তাই এই দায়িত্বটুকু আমি খুব নিখুতভাবে এড়িয়ে যাই। চাপিয়ে দেই ঘরের  একমাত্র অন্য সদস্যের উপর। সেও মহা বেজার মুখে পেটের দায়ে আমাকে কাজটুকু করে দেয়। এবার বাজার করার সময় মাছ কেটে আনতে ভুলে যাওয়ায় আমার চিৎকারের ভয়ে সে দাবি করে বসলো আস্ত মাছ গ্রিল করার জন্যই নাকি এই মাছ কেনা! এবারের রেসিপি সেই তেলাপিয়া মাছেরই গ্রিল।

To me, the worst part about cooking is to cut and clean. I like the sizzling sound of oil more than the swishing sound of knife. since the husband bought whole fish in absence of mine while doing the groceries we both thought of why not making it a grilled one!

I tried it out with lemon,  mushroom fried rice. You can try stir fried veggies or potato wedges as side as well! Please let me know how does it taste once you cook it! before getting started the final picture is given below! 



at first lets peep on our fridge to check for this below ingredients -


  1. telapia fish
  2. garlic paste
  3. ginger paste
  4. orange juice
  5. lemon juice
  6. salt
  7. soy sauce
  8. tomato ketchup
  9. oregano
  10. basil
  11. olive oil
these are almost it. lets start with preparing the fish first!

P.S: I usually don't cook with measurements. so wont be putting those amounts in there. If any question persists feel free to ask in comment section.


  1. at first I cut off the fins and tail with a sharp scissor. that looked like an easy task to do
  2. Then came the tough part! cleaning the fish. since I am a lazy person I did not want to take the hassle of cleaning the fish head. so I put my knife in 45 degree angle below the fish head. and cut it in a way so that all the wastes and the head comes out all together. the fish should look like below picture -  



I am still not a pro at this, so if you are an amateur like me, may be you should ask your butcher to help you with this while buying the fish!

so now, let's cook!

  1. marinate the fish with lemon juice, orange juice, soy sauce, ginger paste, garlic paste, tomato ketchup, herbs, salt and some olive oil for 2 hours.
  2. cut 2 slits in fish and insert sliced lemon in it for better flavors
  3. after two hours, remove the inserted lemons and  preheat your skillet on stove
  4. put some oil in it and let it heat properly
  5. to check if the oil is hot  enough put some salt in it and listen the sizzle! once heated the sound should feel very satisfying to your ear!
  6. place the fish carefully in hot oil. fry 2 minutes each side and change the side every 2 minutes.
  7. this way change the side 5 times and cook the fish for 10 minutes all together. 
  8. fish is ready to eat!
